if i could stop time for a moment
i'd stare right at you
knowing you were looking at me
but not actually looking at me.
my gaze would be in the present moment
and yours would be frozen,
you'd belong to time - your great enemy.
i'd whip my hand backwards
about to slap you
but my hand would betray me and settle upon
your cheek slowly.
i'd smile, rest my forehead against yours and whisper,
"i give you up to time."
— the clocks would turn again and i'd have to let you go for good.
